The reason we visit this station is to worship at the foot of the world’s biggest Jersey barrier, standing upright with the unbelievable address of One Brooklyn Bridge Plaza, aka the Verizon Building, 375 Pearl St.

This not-built-for-people skyscraper was built by New York Bell and opened in 1975 during the Beame Administration, but approvals must have been received under John Lindsay’s watch. Watch what? Watch the bridge disappear behind 32 stories of concrete, that’s what.
