Brooklyn’s service really got hammered by the Jan 21-22 snowstorm. The Washington Ave & Greene Ave station in Clinton Hill, which is No. 1 on this week’s list, was empty for 93 hours. Clinton Hill had not previously made the list.
In Manhattan, Tompkins Square turned in the worst performance. It too is making its debut on the list.
Of note
- We haven’t come across any story that sheds light on exactly how the Bixi bankruptcy might impact New York’s bike-sharing program. Here’s the story from Forbes magazine.
- We’re suffering the most out-of-service stations since the New Year’s closures around Times Square -- seven out of commission at this writing. In the Garment District, four Broadway stations -- at W 36, W 37, W 39 and W 41 Sts -- were pulled from service starting Thursday and continuing. Near Union Square, Greenwich Village’s W 13 St & 5 Ave station remains closed because of the water main break. The Village also lost Sullivan St & Washington Sq for a time on Thursday. Two Bridges lost the Catherine St & Monroe St station for several days. The Fulton St & Rockwell Pl station in Fort Greene was shut down starting Monday.
Bicycles available
This week we recorded a new low.
Most recorded: 5658 on Sunday 1/19 at 10 am (Record is 5674)
Fewest recorded: 3874 at 5:30 pm Friday. That’s the record low.
Worstest stations
Both boroughs have a new worst of the worst.

How to read the charts
What’s a NotSpot? A NotSpot is a bike-sharing station that is empty or filled at the time we conduct a survey.
About the rankings: We rank the Top Ten NotSpots by neighborhood. We take the total NotSpot hours produced by all stations in the ‘hood and divide that by the total number of docks there. The "hours per dock" is as close as we can get to a common denominator.
