Sleet upon the sharrow


We joined the system operator’s Bike Train on Sunday morning, pedaling for about two hours with seven others from Pershing Square (Grand Central), along both rivers down to below the Williamsburg Bridge and ending at Union Square.

Along the way, just before it started sleeting, we learned the meaning of an urban biking term that was new to us -- “sharrow”, i.e. where street painters have declared there’s enough room for a motor vehicle and a bike.
