Maybe 'gray' means 'gone'

If you take the Hudson River bike lane north out of the Financial District on a sunny midday there's this line, just about at the top end of Battery City, where you once and for all are rid of The Shadow.
Ah, for the small pleasures. We were on our way to  check out the W 18 St & 11 Ave station which went gray sometime over the holidays.

We think the station was here,
across 11 Ave from the Chelsea Piers.

Gray? How about Bronze for the plaque that reads There Was Once A Bike-sharing Station Here. Many People Used It.

The legend on the official map says "Out of Service" but we've checked three of these gray things now and they're out of service like Moses is out of service.  See Brooklyn's ghost stations.
